First draft done

  • 12th Jul, 2005 at 2:28 AM

I've finished writing the first draft of my paper. As I did so, I went back to looking at how the TEX world has been doing so far. From what I can tell, they're actually doing quite well. New versions of pdfTEX have been released with nice new features. Stuff I used to do by hand now has LATEX packages to do it for you. Yup, things are looking good.

So's the paper, actually. I've gotten it to compile correctly with the provide build system and will be ready to ship off the most attractive paper Andrew's ever seen. And it has illustrations that look like they're handdrawn. That's because I spent an hour of my life with Inkscape's calligraphy tool. Surprisingly, the drawings I've made on the computer look far better than what I could produce by hand.

I love multiple undo.

Yes, you can read our paper once it's published. But it's not art, it's illustration. Elegant, but not beautiful.

I did as well, but I don't have enough time to sit down and do all the artistic stuff I want to do. So it'll just have to wait, I'm afraid.
