Google

  • 22nd Mar, 2004 at 5:53 AM

I woke up this morning and I had this horrible realisation.

I need Google in order to live my life.

Yes, that's right. I need it. I woke up, and wondered when class was, and then asked Google for my schedule. It was then that I realised that I off-load a significant portion of my memory to the Internet.

Then I realised that if search engines failed to work one day, or I was unable to come up with good keywords, then I'd be up the creek without a paddle. I'm normally incredibly forgetful, but this is really scary.

I hope no one at google knows this ;)
Wouldn't it suck if someone working on the internet knew this and altered your memory.

Does me going stir crazy when not able to check my e-mail count as a similar dependency?

Similar, but not equivalent.

After all, losing your mind isn't the same as losing your memory.
