Daniel has announced today's Hug Day. The idea of this is that we all go on IRC, join the #ubuntu-bugs channel, and help manage bugs in Ubuntu.

Why is it called Hug Day? Because people gets hugs for doing good work, of course.

So join in! It'll be fun and edumacational!

Bleh, I have to work all day tomorrow, and the rest of the day is taken up by my crappy commute. How often do you guys have these things? I'd like to help, and I can try and schedule in the next one if I know further ahead of time.

I don't know how often we do these things. Maybe once a week? I'll let you know.

Ubuntu is a free operating system that's mostly built by volunteers. I'm one of the non-volunteers.

We write the best damned software we can, because we want other people to use it too. Unfortunately, we have bugs, so that's where we have to get together and fix them. Hugs are just part of that.

I mean, c'mon. Hugs!

in that i don't actually know anything about computers.
and i've been interested in switching to a new OS,
since i need to reformat my stupid piece-of-shit computer anyways,
but... i'm scared!

I'm graduated from computer engineering and I don't even have a cellphone!

Ubuntu is great. Back up your data somewhere else and install something to tinker with. It's fun.

You know, I think I'm going to be installing that in a few months.

The stars seem right, I suppose... :)
