I saw my last two Fringe shows today. I got to work a little early so I could make the 15:15 showing of Sunday Night Live: ON TOUR. These guys were fairly funny, although the sketch comedy was not always spot on. They played before a strangely empty house and I heard them talking about how few audience members they had. I wouldn't say they were a blockbuster hit, but I certainly expected more people to see their show.

Actually, one of the great things about their show was the live music, provided by the band offstage. Those guys were really good.

Then, late at night I went to see 1001 Nights but I was in completely the wrong state of mind. I had been hacking all day, and then did a little more hacking just before I walked down to see this piece. Consequently, my left-brain was hyper-analysing everything. For instance, I noticed that this venue had the most complicated lighting setup. There were glow-in-the-dark stage marks. The speakers distorted on the high notes. In fact, I noticed everything but the dancing really. I don't think I was capable of understanding what the dancer was expressing, which is quite a shame because she looked so serious while moving. Then, horror of horrors, I noticed that the music was putting me to sleep.

I say that these are the last shows that I'll see, because I'm going to Toronto this weekend. (Happy Father's Day!) So I booked myself a ticket for the 17:00 train and I'm going to spend the weekend with Dad. Then I return to Montréal for a scant two days before leaving town again.
