Canon PowerShot A95
Originally uploaded by sfllaw.

I am selling my Canon PowerShot A95. It's a good, sturdy, faithful camera which won't let you down. Whether you're an absolute neophyte or you've taken some photographs before, this little guy will capture excellent memories. And it takes rather decent pictures, if I say so myself.

It comes with the original box, a 1GB flash memory card, some cables, and thick manuals that describe what all the buttons do. But you don't really need the manual, you can just start taking pictures and have the joy of discovering what looks good. The A95 has a great automatic mode, but you can also fiddle with the manual settings if you want control. It's a great camera for someone who wants to learn about digital photography—you can really grow into it.

What isn't included are a camera bag, rechargable AA batteries (get the NiMH ones), and a lens-cleaning kit. These are all very cheap. You may also want a compact-flash card reader, but that isn't strictly necessary. Those are also very affordable. Oh, and you'll also need a sense of adventure. Which is completely free.

I'm selling this for $150, unless you have a story of passionate art, in which case I'm willing to offer it for less. I had a lot of fun with this camera and I hope you do too.

I already have! I'm using an A620 and I love it. It's like the bigger brother of the A95.

i have the a620 too and it makes me insanely happy. ^_^

We should go out and take photographs together some time. I'd love to get some tips from you.

but you're a fantastic photographer! you hardly need any tips from me. :)

Indeed I do! I like your style and adore your angles. I'd love to learn from you.

Would you consider selling the memory card separately? I need one for my travels.
28th Jul, 2006 16:46 (UTC)
Sadly no. The camera is pretty useless without its compact flash card.

You will find, however, that memory is rather cheap these days. You can just waltz in to the Future Shop down on Ste-Catherines and pick some up. I don't know if they're still having their renovation sale...

Don't forget that camera has a compact flash (CF) card. If you need one and he won't sell it separately you can get cheap cards from this site:

It's very sexy, and I am definitely interested.

I LOVE photography, and would love to take more pictures, but I find my current digital camera doesn't have a fast enough shutter speed, so taking action shots is impossible. What's the speed on this one? I studied photography in college a little, and absolute love taking pictures [especially now that I have a very fetching model in my life ;) ]

Can we chat over e-mail a bit more? elektrafying at gmail dot com.

You can open up this camera to f/2.8 and it takes acceptable pictures at ISO 200. For all outdoor scenes, you can get excellent shutter speeds.

However, night-time or indoor photography are less than ideal. You'll be able to take still-life shots, but freezing motion is not possible. This camera has trained me to look for an abundance of natural light for my subjects. And to cheat whenever I'm at a concert.

DOH! I have been looking for a camera to get me started... but tight on cash... I am sure it will go to a good home... if ever it's not gone by the 15th... it's mine? maybe? *superhugs*

It seems a tad unlikely, but I will keep you in mind.

You're quite welcome to stay. I have your visit blocked out in my calendar.
28th Jul, 2006 20:04 (UTC)
I'll take it if you can get it to Toronto.
28th Jul, 2006 21:51 (UTC)
Um. It's probably too late but I would totally be interested in purchasing the camera too. It would definitely be put to good use I can assure you. I am in Toronto too as well.
