Student protest

  • 10th Nov, 2004 at 5:06 PM

There was a huge protest outside the office today on President Kennedy. Damian and I went out as "investigative reporters" to find out what was going on.

Apparently, Jean Charest (leader of the provincial Liberal government) is cutting $103 million in student awards. So students were marching down the street at about 1600h, chanting and otherwise peacefully protesting. We saw quite a few police cars—far more than at a normal event—and we started walking along with the protesters. We got to partway down their column, but something had stopped the march and people were just pooling in an intersection.

Pictures will appear as soon as I get them from Damian.

Update: It appears that this event has also appeared on the montreal community.
