The advantage, jdeboer, of having FlexHours is that you can choose to work sane hours if you wish.

My first work term at NITI consisted of 7:00 to 15:00 hours, which I had kept when I worked at Maplesoft. (The real justification is that I didn't want to ruin my ability to attend 8:30 classes. Not that I did much except learn by osmosis.) These are actually even better hours, because everything is peaceful and quiet, and you're able to get work done really easily. Much like the dead of night, actually.

Not only that, when you leave work, there's still three hours to do any shopping or chores that you need to get done. This makes life really easy to manage. The only downside is that I have to sleep by 19:00 if I want to have any hope of getting into work at that time.

Maybe jdeboer (http://huronbox.com/~james/jdlog/)'s appreciation of the new policy can be traced to his well-known hatred of freedom?

Perhaps I'm being manipulated, but I'm actually trying to come in earlier than I have been, if only to prove that I can and I'm not just whining about changing. I guess it also helps that I'm working with people who are also coming in a bit earlier than I had been.

Oh yeah, and I also hate freedom.

What am I doing working with a bunch of people who hate freedom?

I feel like I've woken up to a nightmare.
