Back into the groove

  • 20th Jan, 2005 at 9:01 PM

I'm getting back into the groove at work. Trying to find that comfortable zone where I know everything there is to know. Being away for three weeks has been really disruptive, since so many things have changed. Which is weird, because there were so few people at the office for at least a week or two of my vacation. I suspect this has to do with fewer distractions leading to more work getting done.

I'm still trying to perform a branch and merge. It's been quite ugly, actually, because CVS has been incredibly ludicrously slow. There's a 70MB file that's getting diffed in there. I can see the cvs server process grinding away at it whenever I do anything. Brutal. I will have to fix it or I will go insane.

Ah. Build system breakage. Lovely. Got past that, so let's see if the rest of the code will work. If it does, I'm in the home stretch.

No, very little was actually done during the week on either side of Christmas. I took (most of) both of them off, and came back to alarmingly small cvs updates.

I didn't think we'd been that productive between the start of January and when you got back, but I guess I was mistaken. So basically, if it makes you feel any better most of the changes have been very recent, and you're not really much further behind the curve than everyone else.

Oh, that's easy to fix
Clearly the fix starts with something like apt-get install subversion
