Food pr0n

  • 1st Mar, 2005 at 4:51 PM

Christine and Barbara were eating tomato and cheese sandwiches in the kitchen for lunch.

And I saw this, I thought of a white china plate, on which half a fresh summer tomato lies, facing heaven. On top balances the most gorgeous slice of buffalo mozzeralla, which has been scorched by a torch.

It's dressed with sea salt and parsley. Balsamic drips down the side. The warm summer sun glows through the tomato's skin.

I can't wait for spring.

I love you too.

But then again, I crave the same thing. And I know that I have to wait until June to get it.

I'm counting down the days.

That's when the first ones are ready, typically started over the spring in hot-houses.

But the best tomatoes are in late July or early August. This is the time you can go to Jean-Talon and watch little Italian grandmother lugging around bushels of plum tomaotes. And coincidentally, basil is plentiful then as well.

Speaking of food pr0n, I really enjoyed this (moderately NSFW).

Damn, that was dirty! :D

They're silly, though. You don't have to be a vegetarian to enjoy those foods.

And conversely, I know some vegetarians who'd hate some of them.
