A little off the top

Yesterday, I went back to Salon Blue Earth for a touch-up of my haircut. It was starting to get a bit shaggy, and I wanted it evened out. Now he's made it look edgy, and it definitely falls nicely.

This time, I went to see dcoombs's hairstylist. Francis was his name. He did my hair entirely with scissors, and it seems to have come out much nicer than Joey's cut (which was a little bit on the short side.) I'll have to go back to see Francis instead, in about two months I should think.

Francis turns out to be a fairly interesting guy. At the age of 22, he's already an up-and-coming hairstylist. Add on the aspirations of starting a band, doing fashion, and painting surrealist impressionistic poetry, and you've got someone with ideas. I hope he doesn't turn dark and cynical any time soon. That would be a shame.

The other place I've had recommended is Tonic Salon and Spa on St. Laurent (just south of Prince Arthur). They're more expensive, but you get a nice head massage. Anyway, it was recommended to me by a female friend, which is probably much more relevant to you than any suggestions by us guys, since I (and all male friends I have) am completely unable to tell you how good either Blue Earth or Tonic is at doing layering :)

I think I had Francis the first time I went; I was pretty impressed, he did a good job of turning my inept directions into something passable. And he has good taste in music.

Last time I went I got Melanie, who was rather disinterested and did a very hurried job, but I gave her even fewer ideas than I gave Francis and I wasn't very talkative, so I'm not complaining too much (since it turned out half-decent anyway). Next time I go I think I'll ask for Francis all the same.
